Synapse Summit

Poster illustration and design for Synapse Summit.

This is a self-initiated project, following a brief set by Oat Agency for the Make Your Mark Illustration Bootcamp course that I have been taking this year.

The brief was to design a poster for an imaginary creative conference and festival, reminiscent of SXSW. The festival named “Synapse Summit” celebrates the convergence of art, technology, music, film and innovative ideas. The poster needed to capture the vibrant, interdisciplinary spirit of the event, whilst inviting a diverse audience to join in the celebration of creativity and new ideas.

I was inspired by the flow state that many artists enter when they are creating, no matter what discipline they work in. I wanted to communicate ideas flowing into each other and influencing each other. Each category (music, tech, etc.) has its own color. The colors flow out, representing the sharing and coming together of these different disciplines during the summit.

The design was created in Procreate. Textures and gradients were added in Photoshop. With the use of mock-ups, I visualized how the brand identity would work on different merchandising applications.
